Top 5 Reasons to Study Abroad with CAPA International Education

This guest post is written by Jessica, a college student, blogger, and recent CAPA International Education Alumnus.  Jessica spent six weeks studying International Marketing in London, England with CAPA during the summer session, and it was one of the most fulfilling experiences of her life.  Read on to see her Top 5 reasons to study abroad with Capa International Education.

“As someone with a passion for travel and exploring new cultures, I knew from a young age that studying abroad was something I wanted to pursue in college.  CAPA International Education helped my travel dreams come true, and I hope by sharing my experiences, you will be empowered to explore the possibility of adding an international component to your college education.   CAPA London provides a cohesive blend of cultural activities, career development opportunities, and educational experiences, which is what most students hope to gain from a study abroad experience.  I made a list of my top 5 reasons why you might consider studying abroad with CAPA International Education.

1.  Accommodations
After everything I read about living in a European city, I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable and spacious my flat was in London.  I stayed in a renovated building in Camden with 3 other girls from my program.  Our flat had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room/dining room, and a kitchen complete with a dishwasher and a washer/dryer.  We also had a balcony, which was a nice bonus.  CAPA London places its students in flats all over the city, and you really feel like you become part of the neighborhood you are living in.  If you are more adventurous than me, you might consider exploring the option of a home stay.

2.  Explore Another Global City
Before departing for London, I made a very ambitious list of all of the places I hoped to visit during my time in Europe.  At the top of my list was Paris.  Something that CAPA London offers that I haven’t seen other study abroad companies offer is their Explore Another Global City Weekend.  For an additional fee I spent three amazing days in Paris.  The price included a round-trip Eurostar ticket, hotel accommodations, breakfast everyday, entrance into the Eiffel Tower, a boat ride along the Seine, and a guided bike tour through the city.  If you take the time to look up the price of a round-trip Eurostar ticket, you probably won’t hesitate to jump on this opportunity.  Looking back, I think this trip was the best money I spent while I was abroad.

3.  Study center
In a beautiful Victorian townhouse, CAPA London has its own study center nestled in Central London within walking distance from Hyde Park and Harrods. You don’t have to worry about familiarizing yourself with a college campus, and everything you need is easily accessible in one building.

4.  Transportation
Anyone that lives in a major city or has ever traveled to one knows that transportation prices can break the bank.  If you travel abroad with CAPA you don’t have to drop a cent on transportation.  Included in the tuition fee is a prepaid Oyster Card for zones 1-3 on the tube and buses to anywhere in the city.  If you have done any research on London, then you probably know that there are 6 zones within the city limits, but trust me, everything that you will want to see is in zones 1-3.

5.  Internship
I can’t write about my experience abroad without mentioning my internship.  If you have any desire to do an internship while abroad do yourself a favor and look into CAPA’s internship program.  The CAPA Internship Team does a quality job of placing students in internships based on their interests and career aspirations.  The summer internship program requires 120 hours of work, which seems like a significant amount, but the knowledge you will gain from commuting and working abroad is well worth the effort.  I was placed in a marketing position at an art gallery in South Kensington, London.  Don’t feel constrained by your major because CAPA does its best to accommodate the needs of all of its students.

CAPA London is only one of many programs that CAPA has to offer.  I definitely wouldn’t recommend CAPA if I didn’t truly believe they provided an amazing experience and incredible value.
