Welcome Sarah, our new Abroad101 Sales Account Executive!
Hey there world travelers! My name is Sarah Lockwood and I am the new Sales Account Executive at Abroad101. Some of you may remember me as the Sales and Marketing Intern from last summer. I’m excited to be back as a part of this dynamic and growing team of motivated people.
I have a long and complicated love affair with studying abroad, starting when I was 16 years old (as many love affairs do). I studied abroad in France my junior year of high school with a fabulous program called School Year Abroad. I spent nine months living with a family of seven, and taking all but two of my classes in French. It was one of the most challenging and rewarding years of my life to date, and completely changed the views I had on my life, as well as the world around me.
This international relationship continued when I chose to study, well, International Relations at Tufts University in Boston. Boston was a large change from Hawaii, where I was born and raised, and turned out to be quite the adventure. I spent another summer in France with the Tufts in Talloires program after my Sophomore year perfecting my French and getting my much needed cheese and wine fix.
During my Junior year, I realized that although I was very comfortable in and around Europe, there was a lot I didn’t know about the Americas. I therefore spent two weeks during my winter break as part of a medical brigade service trip to Guatemala. I finished off the year spending my Spring Break in New Orleans with a Gospel Choir, a whole new cultural experience unto itself.
Now I’m back in Boston, excited to re-join the international community. I’ve learned through my travels how important it is to keep an open mind and to learn more about the people with whom we share this lovely planet. Abroad101 gives students the opportunity to get out of their comfort zone and the vision to give back. I look forward to seeing how far we can really go!
